France: Retirement age will be increased to 62

The French Government announced in June 2010 a reform of the state pensions system, including a gradual increase in the normal retirement age from 60 to 62 by 2018.

Following consultations with the social partners and other stakeholders, on 16 June 2010, the centre-right Government published the details of its forthcoming reform of the state pensions system, with draft legislation on the issue due to be issued in mid-July.
