We report on the creation of a world works council at a French telecoms multinational, the introduction of a quota for women in management at a major German firm and important new employment legislation in Spain. 

• France Telecom sets up worldwide works council The French telecoms multinational signed an agreement in June 2010 to establish a worldwide works council, as a forum for global dialogue with employee and union representatives. 
• Deutsche Telekom builds HR policies to support women in senior management The German telecommunications company has set a quota for 30% of its middle and upper management positions worldwide to be occupied by women by the end of 2015. 
• Spain: Government introduces labour market reform measures The Spanish Parliament approved in June 2010 a set of labour market reform measures aimed at promoting employment and increasing flexibility.
