European Parliament seeks binding EU quotas for women on company boards

The European Parliament called in July 2011 for EU legislation setting a minimum level of women's representation on company boards of 30% by 2015 and 40% by 2020.

In March 2011, the European Commission asked publicly listed companies in Europe to sign a "women on the board pledge" by March 2012.
