New good practice guide: sexual orientation

The latest addition to the XpertHR good practice manual provides guidance on creating an inclusive workplace for lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) employees.

The good practice guide explains the importance of building an inclusive workplace for LGB employees and identifies the main barriers that prevent them from feeling at ease and respected. It describes the actions that employers can take to create an inclusive workplace for LGB employees, including: raising awareness about LGB issues; raising the profile of LGB employees; equal opportunities training; inclusivity in the recruitment process; career development; preventing and dealing with bullying and harassment; employee networks; and monitoring.
