The latest XpertHR Benchmarking research looks at how HR departments are changing in terms of size, influence and effectiveness. 

UK HR departments have been shrinking over recent years, XpertHR benchmarking research finds:

Benchmarking HR roles and responsibilities in 2012

These are among the key findings of XpertHR's 10th annual benchmarking survey of HR roles and responsibilities, based on responses from 334 organisations with a combined workforce of 360,604 employees.

The survey also looks at how HR departments rate themselves in terms of influence and effectiveness in 2012, and finds that the influence of HR is growing: across the whole economy, three-fifths of HR professionals surveyed by XpertHR say that HR's influence throughout the organisation has grown over the past two years.
