Stress has a significant impact on the bottom line: in 2011 stress became the primary cause of long-term sickness absence for manual and non-manual workers. Employers that adopt a framework for managing stress and take steps to decrease the risks of stress, for example by promoting psychological wellbeing, can reduce occurrences of stress and the costs associated with it.
