Pensions auto-enrolment: new letter templates for employers and enforcement guidance from the Pensions Regulator

The Pensions Regulator has published template letters for employers, and set out its compliance and enforcement strategy for pensions auto-enrolment, in advance of the start of the auto-enrolment regime on 1 July 2012.

  • Letter templates for employers (on the Pensions Regulator website) One of the new employer duties under pensions auto-enrolment is to provide certain information to workers, at the right time. Employers can use the Pensions Regulator's employer letter template tool to help them to comply with this duty.
  • Compliance and enforcement: strategy and policy (on the Pensions Regulator website) The Pensions Regulator will police employer compliance with pensions auto-enrolment. These strategy and policy documents set out how the Pensions Regulator will enforce the auto-enrolment regime, using a system of statutory notices, fixed penalties and escalating fines.
