Podcast: Third-party pressure to dismiss

TOPICS:
termination of employment dismissal
tribunal procedures and penalties

On this week's XpertHR Weekly, we discuss Nye v William Hardwicke 2000 Ltd ET/3103642/2011, in which the employer was told by the police that a non-negotiable condition of retaining the licence for its nightclub business, without which it would have to close, was the removal of an employee who had allegedly poorly handled incidents of violent crime in the nightclub. Mr Nye, who was subsequently dismissed by his employer, pursued an unfair dismissal claim in the employment tribunal.

Presenter Jeya Thiruchelvam is joined by Stephen Simpson. Edited and produced by Luke Smith.
