When to use this model holiday contract clause

Use this model contract clause to cover circumstances where an employee is absent immediately before or immediately after a period of holiday leave, when drafting his or her contract or terms and conditions of employment.

Clause wording

If the employee is absent due to sickness either immediately before or immediately after a period of holiday leave or a bank/public holiday he/she will not be paid (or where appropriate a deduction will be made from salary) for the working days on which he/she was absent unless a medical certificate is provided.
