Holiday and holiday pay: Contract clause on sickness absence immediately before or after holiday (contract clause)

Clause wording: If the employee is absent due to sickness either immediately before or immediately after a period of holiday leave or a bank/public holiday he/she will not be paid (or where appropriate a deduction will be made from salary) for the working days on which he/she was absent unless a medical certificate is provided. The Employer will in these circumstances reimburse the employee for the cost of obtaining the medical certificate.
