What is it?
The minimum hourly amount that every employee is entitled to be paid.

How much can an individual get?
Every employee must be paid at least:

Rate Effective from
Main (adult) rate for workers aged 22 and over
£5.80 per hour 1 October 2009
£5.73 per hour 1 October 2008
Development rate for workers aged 18-21 inclusive
£4.83 per hour 1 October 2009
£4.77 per hour 1 October 2008
Rate for workers aged 16-17 inclusive
£3.57 per hour 1 October 2009
£3.53 per hour 1 October 2008

Current rates effective from: 1 October 2009.
