Compulsory maternity leave

Employees are not permitted to work during the compulsory maternity leave period. 1 The compulsory maternity leave period is set out below. 

Individual Period of leave
Employee who works in a factory Four weeks commencing on the day on which childbirth occurs
All other employees Two weeks commencing on the day on which childbirth occurs

1 This includes work on keeping-in-touch days.
