Introduction

There are a number of practical and legal reasons why employers should take proactive steps to deal with bullying and harassment in the workplace. There is an implied term in every contract of employment that the employer will provide a working environment that is reasonably suitable for the performance by an employee of his or her contractual duties (Waltons & Morse v Dorrington [1997] IRLR 488 EAT).
