Formal investigations

(1) Without prejudice to their general power to do anything requisite for the performance of their duties under section [53(1) - SDA; 43(1) - RRA] the Commission may if they think fit, and shall if required by the Secretary of State, conduct a formal investigation for any purpose connected with the carrying out of these duties.
