When to use this model adoption leave contract clause

Use this model contract clause when drafting an employee's contract or particulars of employment to cover situations where the child is expected to be placed for adoption on or after 5 October 2008.

Clause wording

An employee who adopts a child through an approved adoption agency is entitled to adoption leave provided that he/she has at least 26 weeks' continuous service calculated as at the week in which notification of matching is given by the adoption agency.
