Jessie Uppal is a principal associate in the Human Resources Practice group at Eversheds LLP, specialising in employment law and business immigration.
Jessie has worked with public- and private-sector clients since 2006, regularly advising on strategic and practical issues arising from international recruitment and compliance with Home Office legal requirements and audits. Jessie's work includes obtaining permission for applicants to live and work in the UK, advising on registered sponsors' obligations and submitting applications under the points-based system.
Jessie has regularly appeared on behalf of public- and private-sector clients, and their employees, to resolve issues with the Home Office. She also undertakes advocacy on employers' behalf when appearing in person at the Home Office for expedited or senior applications.
Jessie has particular experience in handling queries regarding the prevention of illegal working and immigration issues arising from the recruitment process. She advises on immigration audits and has advised on, and subsequently implemented, a compliance overhaul of recruitment and illegal working prevention processes. She provides immigration training and prepares immigration-specific materials for clients.
