As well as championing the benefits of flexible working, the Equal Opportunities Commission has transported some great new HR buzzwords into this time and space.
Unfortunately, while the EOC may not be offering employees a TARDIS each, it has provided us with some new language in a report that aims to "stimulate and support new discussions" and drive forward an agenda to transform work, flexible working and the workplaces of tomorrow.
True to its word the EOC has given us gems such as, 'Timelords', 'Shapeshifters' and 'Remote-controllers', to define different types of flexible workers.
For example, timelords have:
- choice over when and where to work,
- the greatest range of business returns, and
- can work anytime, anywhere.

Shift-shapers, however, have little control over where and when they work but are still allowed to work flexibly.
They have more:
- choice over time in fixed workplaces, and
- access to family contracts, shift-swapping, negotiated shifts, self-rostering, time accounts and annualised hours.
So with such great promise let's hope that the EOC's exciting new vision doesn't fall into the hands of Lance Bennett and the Empress of Racnoss...
