Team building on a budget...

Teambuilding events have come a long way since the era when they basically involved compulsory paintballing or spending the day up to your waist in cold water attempting for no adequately explained reason to cross a river without the aid of a bridge.

If outdoor pursuits don't appeal – and, quite frankly, if you don't really see how paying for your staff to spend the day go-carting helps to build teams anyway – then indoor options now include collaborative sculpture and days spent working a in professional kitchen.

But as a recent XpertHR article on choosing the right team-building event (subscription required) makes clear, these aren't necessarily cheap events, and can cost anything from £500 to £250,000 to organise.

For that sort of price, you might expect NASA's help in organising a team-building mission to Mars.

Or you could always go for the rather cheaper, do-it-yourself option and think creatively about using the resources around you, as the office workers in this video demonstrate…
