If you are reading this blog using Internet Explorer you are in good company. According to our web analytics system, some 91% of readers of this blog and the main XpertHR web site over the past month accessed the services using IE - as illustrated in the graph above, which you can click to see a full version.
Broken down further, the statistics show that 60% of XpertHR users are viewing the site using IE6, the previous version of Microsoft's popular internet browser, while 32% have upgraded to the current version, IE 7.
Most of you will be viewing the site at work, on a work PC, with software provided by your IT department. Which no doubt explains the preponderance of IE 6, as corporate users have been slower than home users to switch to IE 7, which was launched last year.
Disappointingly for me, a mere 4% of you are using Mozilla Firefox to view the web site and the blog. I would like to see that figure grow, as the open-source Firefox is far and away my favourite browser. You can find out about all the great features of Firefox here. And from around 6pm tonight, UK-based users will be able to download the long awaited Firefox 3, which promises to open up a whole new browsing experience for the serious internet addict and casual browser alike.
In case your IT department won't let you install Firefox, rest assured that XpertHR's developers take great pains to ensure that the service works across all platforms and major browsers. As for me, I always check new XpertHR features on Internet Explorer, because I know that this is how 90% of users access the service. But that is one of the few situations when I use IE. For every other purpose, whether at work or at home, I am a dedicated Firefox fan.
