« Pay/inflation gap remains at its widest since October 1990 | Main | Englishman wins Irish race discrimination claim »

How are you feeling today?

According to research from insurer Unum, two-thirds of you will have answered "underpaid" to that question.

On average, British workers feel they are underpaid by £5,520 a year, it says. However, a more optimistic 1% of workers think they should earn £30,000 more for their work than they currently do.

Men, it turns out, are particularly hard done by. While they think they are due an additional £5,706 to top up their salary, women "only" want £4,495.

The company says that the research reveals "how disgruntled the UK workforce is with their wages". Which, given that pay rises are currently 1.8 percentage points below inflation, is hardly surprising.

And as for the 2% of you that said you are "overpaid"....
