The HSE's focus on stress is timely. According to HSE statistics (PDF format, 1.61 MB), four out of every 10 (39.9%) days' absence in 2007/08 were linked to cases of work-related stress, depression or anxiety. This amounts to 13,539,000 days off work across the UK economy. As people face the consequences of this recession, this is only likely to increase.
XpertHR's latest survey on stress management activities used by UK employers (subscription required) highlights growing concerns about workplace stress and the issues faced by organisations as they try to find ways to deal with the problem. It also identifies some aspects of stress management that are more effective than others.

Excellent resource. Many managers are quite stressed today. The stress level is higher than I have seen at any time in over 30 years in the employment industry. Their own fear of being eliminated and the fact or fear of having to downsize employees has made that a reality. Again, thanks for the article.
