The IRS essential HR update on age discrimination takes place in London on the morning of 24 September 2009. We’ve put together an age discrimination resource pack to help XpertHR subscribers attending the event get the most out of it. And, if you’re attending the afternoon update on maternity and parental rights too, don’t forget that we’ve also put together a resource pack on that.
The age discrimination resource pack includes:
- a round-up of tribunal cases illustrating redundancy situations that have led to age discrimination claims and, in some cases, resulted in large awards of compensation
- a recent Court of Appeal decision on the lawfulness of the inclusion of a length-of-service criterion in a redundancy selection matrix in a collective agreement
- an examination of the forthcoming Equality Act’s treatment of age discrimination
- model documents to be used to comply with the statutory retirement procedure
- questions on recruitment and possible age discrimination, including the use of university milk rounds, requests for work history and dates, and use of the words “senior” and “junior” in job adverts.
These issues and more will be covered at the conference, which will focus on:
- the current law on age discrimination and likely changes
- recruitment and selection dos and don’ts
- service-related benefits, including health screening and long-service awards
- retirement and redundancy
- harassment and victimisation.
Don’t forget that all XpertHR subscribers who book places on the IRS essential HR update on age discrimination are entitled to a £50 discount per delegate. To claim this simply enter PZR27347 on the booking form.
