In a move that somehow makes perfect sense, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has chosen Homer Simpson as the new face of its health and safety at work campaign (on the RoSPA website).
Homer Simpson (on the Wikipedia website), who is of course safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, features in most of the RoSPA's six new posters health and safety posters, which are available on its website:
Safety responsibility depends on everyone
Slips, trips and falls can be prevented
Body mechanics prevention strategies work
Become the eyes and ears of security
Eliminate bumps, cuts and scrapes: keep your mind on task
On-site and at home, think safety 24/7
Homer is well-known for his work-related words of wisdom, including:
"I think Smithers picked me because of my motivational skills. Everyone says they have to work a lot harder when I'm around."
"I want to share something with you. The three little sentences that will get you through life. Number one: Cover for me. Number two: Oh, good idea, boss! Number three: It was like that when I got here."
"Lisa, if you don't like your job you don't strike. You just go in every day and do it really half-assed. That's the American way."
"Son, if you really want something in this life, you have to work for it. Now quiet! They're about to announce the lottery numbers."
Bart: "I am through with working. Working is for chumps."
Homer: "Son, I'm proud of you! I was twice your age when I figured that out."
"That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough. I'm going to clown college!"
