DLA Piper cleared of sex discrimination (on the Liverpool Echo website) A top Liverpool law firm accused of sacking a partner because she was pregnant has been cleared of sexual discrimination.

Whistleblower loses £1m unfair dismissal case (on the Daily Telegraph website) A former senior manager at Lloyds Banking Group has lost a £1m claim for unfair dismissal as a result of his whistleblowing over what he alleged was the bank's artificial management of the tax it paid to the UK Government.

Scottish tourist body criticised for role in sacking (on the Herald Scotland website) An employment tribunal has dismissed a claim by a former public relations manager that he was the victim of discrimination after being sacked from VisitScotland following a recurrence of his bipolar disorder. However, the tribunal was extremely critical of some of VisitScotland's actions.

Nursing assistant wins fight to be reinstated (on the Press and Journal website) A school nursing assistant who gave a pupil the wrong medication has won her employment tribunal fight to keep her job.

Birmingham council staff win millions over pay equality (on the BBC website) About 5,000 mainly female council staff have won their claim for equal pay at an employment tribunal.

Nightclub receptionist unfairly dismissed over Facebook entry (on the Kidderminster Shuttle website) A Kidderminster nightclub receptionist was unfairly dismissed after being accused of creating a Facebook entry that it was claimed made her boss look stupid, an employment tribunal has found.

Stourport man loses unfair dismissal claim (on the Kidderminster Shuttle website) A Stourport team leader who helped provide sound equipment for concerts by the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin has lost his unfair dismissal claim.

University ordered to make payout to fixed-term employees (on the Kidderminster Shuttle website) An employment tribunal has ordered Lancaster University to pay 60 days' salary to a group employees whose fixed-term contracts were not renewed.
