Poor performance is bad for business

Many organisations shy away from tackling under-performance - probably because this is one of the most challenging areas of people management for line managers. And yet poor performance on the part of at least some employees is clearly a problem that plagues most organisations.

Last time XpertHR carried out relevant research, we found that poor performance was a problem in almost four in five organisations.

It almost goes without saying that poor performance can potentially damage the health and success of an organisation. Respondents to our last survey told us about negative impacts such as lower productivity and income generation and falling service standards.

But it is not all doom and gloom - there are several steps that employers can take to boost individual employee performance. Taking part in the 2011 XpertHR survey on managing underperformance will provide you with valuable benchmarking information on:
• how organisations like yourself are dealing with underperformance;
• what works best in managing poor performance; and
• how line managers can be encouraged to help boost performance levels.
