Do assessment centres represent value for money?

Assessment centres are widely regarded as the 'Rolls-Royce' of selection techniques but they don't come cheap. This XpertHR survey will examine employer practice in this area and look at how to get the best value out of assessment centres.

2007 research by XpertHR found that the typical assessment centre is used to fill managerial vacancies, has been designed for the employer, brings together internal and external candidates, mainly uses internal staff as assessors, takes one day to operate, costs £225 per candidate, and is not usually subject to an evaluation of its effectiveness.
