May 2012 has been something of an anniversary month here at XpertHR.
All this month, we’ve been celebrating 10 years since the launch of XpertHR.co.uk (see this post for some key findings of our special benchmarking report to celebrate our 10th anniversary. XpertHR subscribers can download the full report here, while non-subscribers can access it by completing the form here).
May 2012 also marks the fifth anniversary of the XpertHR Employment Intelligence blog (click here to see the very first post on XpertHR Employment Intelligence, published on 1 May 2007 by my colleague David Shepherd).
After five years of service, we’re starting to think that this blog could perhaps benefit from a little sprucing up around the edges.
And this is where you come in. In the spirit of our “If I could change one thing about HR…” guest post series, I’d like to pose the following question to our readers:
- If there were one thing you could change about the XpertHR Employment Intelligence blog what would it be?
This can be absolutely anything: subject matter, page layout, choice of colours used, etc, etc.
And you don’t really need to limit your suggestions to just the one, either – all input is welcome, no matter how large or small the suggested change might be!
I’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch via the comments box below, or get in touch via Twitter, LinkedIn or Google+.
- In keeping with the spring cleaning reference at the start of the post the rather pleasing flamingo depicted above was among the images returned when I searched for feather duster-related images on Wikimedia Commons.

The one thing that I would change about the XpertHR Blog is the default text font size: increase it one font size and it will be instantly more legible for everyone.
The blog does not exist in isolation from the rest of the site, however, so it is appropriate to comment on it as well.
Although the main XpertHR site seems to use more legible text than the blog, there is no obvious indication that it complies with or has considered the W3C international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Where is the Accessibility link on the Home page now found on most up-to-date websites? I am sure that some work has been done but even the User Guide appears to omit any mention of accessibility.
It would be wonderful if you could celebrate your anniversaries by giving the website an accessibility spring clean!
It’s hard to say how to “improve” one of my favorite blog reads. You have a great mix of technical posts along with testimonials from others about HR and it’s state.
If I could ask for one thing, it would be this . . .
I’d like to hear from the other great global HR voices about how we can further integrate our profession across boundaries. We seem to state “case studies” and snapshots, but I’d love to see a series on HR trends that are truly global.
I think you do a fantastic job of content and history. Maybe increase the font size, I’m getting old dude.
