I recently joined the XpertHR editorial team after a six year spell in private practice as an employment solicitor. I graduated from Cardiff University in law and politics and decided to qualify into employment law because it is people focused with a political dimension. I have a particular interest in sex, race and disability discrimination law and the other more human aspects of employment law. Before qualifying as a solicitor I worked on the North Wales Child Abuse and Bloody Sunday public inquiries. In my previous life as a solicitor I gave regular training seminars and frequently wrote for local and regional publications about the various developments in employment law. Outside work I make (admittedly sporadic!) efforts to stay fit - I did a half marathon earlier this year and also venture to the occasional dance class. When I am not trying to stay fit I enjoy consuming lovely (and invariably highly calorific) food.
