I write for Employment Review and for Pay and Benefits Bulletin. My remit for Employment Review centres on producing surveys and case studies. The aim is to examine both how HR trends change over time and how new HR initiatives impact on the profession. For Pay and Benefits Bulletin, my remit is to keep up to date the database of wage settlements and to produce survey reports and case studies on employee benefits. I focus particularly on pay and benefit issues amongst public sector employers as well as those in the textile industry.

I have a particular interest in the development and application of employment law. As well as being interested in the practical implications of employment legislation, I am fascinated by how legislative measures are perceived differently by the various parties involved in their operation. I also have a keen interest in the role that trade unions play in the determination of terms and conditions of employment and in setting the agenda for changes in legislation affecting the workplace. My other area of interest is the provision of occupational pensions and in particular the how benefit structures change and develop in response to external influences and internal pressures.

Outside of work I have recently completed a post-graduate diploma in law. For recreation I enjoy scuba diving and am a keen student of military history. I have been a season ticket holder at Tottenham Hotspur for the last twenty years but hope to be released early for good behaviour.
