HGV drivers can now expect median basic pay rates of £9.86 an hour, with higher rates for weekend and bank holiday shifts, CELRE's Distribution Salary Survey reveals.
Warehouse managers, meanwhile, earn a median basic salary of £46,653, with many earning bonuses, taking their median basic salary plus bonus to £52,287.

The report allows employers to benchmark salaries for a management, driving and warehouse roles. It is based on responses from 43 third party logistics and large-scale retail companies and includes data on 77,038 individual employees.
The current report includes salary data broken down by:
- nine job levels -
- regional manager,
- general manager,
- department manager,
- section manager,
- team leader/supervisor,
- senior technical/admin staff,
- qualified driver/technical/admin staff,
- unqualified driver/experienced operative/junior technical/admin staff, and
- warehouse operative/clerical staff
- five job functions -
- general management,
- warehouse,
- administration,
- transport and
- mechanical.
- regions and, where available, counties.
Pay for managerial posts is reported in terms of annual salaries, and includes further data on bonuses, and overtime rates where applicable. Further analysis by company turnover and site revenue are also included.
Pay for non-managerial posts is reported in terms of hourly rates, and includes separate tables for basic, Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday rates.
All salary tables include average, median and upper and lower quartile rates.
Among participants in the survey were Asda, DHL, Fedex Express Europe, Home Retail Group, Parcelforce, Royal Mail, Sainsburys, Tesco Distribution and Waitrose.
