University pay data for 2009

Detailed pay data for 2009 drawn from the higher education sector has been published by CELRE in association with the Universities and Colleges Employers' Association.

The 2009 Salary Survey of Higher Education Staff covers 83 UK institutions and 146,909 staff. The report covers both academic and non-academic staff.

Participating institutions can access data by:

  • location - 13 regions, including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
  • institution type - pre-1992, post-1992, college of higher education, or specialist college.
  • framework agreement - implemented or not implemented.
  • higher education grouping - Russell Group, Million Plus, 1994 Group, University Alliance or GuildHE.
  • income bands - four, ranging from less than £60 million to £180 million and over.
  • individuals - academic and non-academic.
  • job level - eight.
  • job function - 72.
