Earlier this week we were pleased to host a user group meeting for participants in the CELRE Computer Staff Salary Survey, enabling us to share some of the findings and to discuss pay issues with reward practitioners, writes managing editor Mark Crail.
In the half year between our November 2008 report and our latest June 2009 survey, both inflation and pay awards have plummeted, while many employers have instituted partial or total recruitment freezes.
The effect of this has been to depress the otherwise inexorable rise in computer staff pay, with increases for staff who have remained in post over the past year now at the lowest level in 40 years.
