Pay rises in the voluntary sector are forecast to fall to their lowest ever level in the coming 12 months as practitioners in many charities prepare to cut staff numbers, according to CELRE's voluntary sector salary survey, published exclusively on XpertHR.
Basic salaries rose by 2.8% in the 12 months to July 2009, the survey reveals. But reward practitioners believe pay rises in the coming year could fall to a median of just 1.0%.
The CELRE Voluntary Sector Salary Survey 2009-10 is based on data from 178 voluntary sector organisations covering 29,012 employees. This year's report is the 21st in the series and is endorsed by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.
In addition to detailed salary tables, the report includes commentary covering year-on-year trends in pay and labour turnover, details of basic pay, location payments, bonuses, pensions and other employee benefits.
The report includes salary tables showing breakdowns based on:
- 6 size bands (by number of employees);
- 7 income bands;
- 10 responsibility levels ;
- 13 locations within the UK and Ireland;
- 14 charity sectors; and
- 14 functional groups and 74 subfunctions.
