XpertHR spent the past two days at the informative CIPD Reward Conference, catching-up on all the latest developments in the reward field and listening to speakers share their experience of reward challenges such as how to reward in a time of austerity, how to link reward to the business strategy and how to ensure that linking pay to performance works.

With so much to take from the two days, we thought it would be useful to provide some additional resources around the themes covered on the two days. So here is a quick run-through of the sessions covered, and further reading on XpertHR.

Reward and the year ahead. The CIPD presented findings of their 2012 reward management survey. The key findings are presented in our blog post, while the full report can be downloaded here.

XpertHR Salary Surveys contain a vast amount of data to enable reward professionals to benchmark pay. The trick is being able to manipulate the data and see how individuals and groups of employees match up against the market.

That's why we produce a whole range of different tools to enable you to do just this. In addition to an annual PDF report (twice a year in the case of our market-leading Computer Staff Salary Survey), we have an online Job Pricing tool and a suite of specialised spreadsheet tools.

Here's a short video (less than five minutes) to demonstrate these spreadsheet tools.

XpertHR is a relatively new name in salary surveys, but there is actually a much longer history behind what we do.

As we sometimes get asked about our background in this area, I thought it might be useful to share a little of the history of XpertHR Salary Surveys and its predecessors.

We published our annual salary survey of financial staff today, and I'm delighted to say that this year's survey is larger than ever, drawing on data for 9,154 employees submitted by 135 organisations.

The headline findings of the survey present a somewhat mixed picture. Although basic pay rises fell again - from 2.9% in 2009 to 2.2% in 2010 - bonuses have staged a recovery, taking increases in pay and bonus from 1.3% in 2009 to 3.6% this year.
