Call for evidence on tips, gratuities, and cover and service charges

Close date: 10 November 2015

The Government has launched a call for evidence from employers and workers on the payment of tips, gratuities, and cover and service charges as a result of concerns raised about the percentage of each payment taken by employers. The Government seeks information on how employers are currently operating arrangements for passing on tips, and on the awareness and use of the current Code of best practice on service charges, tips, gratuities and cover charges. It also invites views from customers on how they prefer to leave tips and how the law should be changed to ensure tips are dealt with fairly.
