Consultation on abolition of contracting out of additional state pension

Close date: 2 July 2014

The Government consults on proposed draft regulations that relate to the abolition of defined benefit contracting out of the additional state pension. Occupational pension schemes will no longer be able to contract out of the additional state pension when the two-tiered system of basic and additional state pensions is replaced by a single-tier pension in April 2016. Employers will be required to pay the standard rate of national insurance contributions.
