Consultation on annual reports on whistleblowing

Close date: 30 September 2014

The Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill provides for regulations to be implemented to require "prescribed persons" under the whistleblowing legislation to publish an annual report on public interest disclosures. Following the Government's Call for evidence, the Government believes that annual reporting will provide for greater transparency on the part of prescribed persons and reassurance for whistleblowers. The Government is consulting on the details to be covered within the annual report, which include the number of disclosures received, the number of disclosures that required action, the number referred to another body, the number of disclosures investigated and the number of organisations that had a whistleblowing policy in place.
