Consultation on blacklisting of trade unionists

Close date: 18 August 2009

The Government consults on draft Regulations that would make it unlawful for employers to refuse employment to, dismiss, or otherwise subject to detriment a worker who appears on a trade union blacklist. The consultation follows evidence collected by the Information Commissioner that such practice has occurred in the construction industry. The proposals would enable workers to seek legal remedy if they are subject to such action.
