Consultation on changes to accident reporting

The Health and Safety Executive consults on proposals to change the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (SI 1995/3163), to reduce the burden on employers. Employers are currently required to report an accident to the relevant enforcing authority if an employee is unable to do his or her work for more than three days as a result of the accident. The consultation seeks views on implementing the proposal in Lord Young's report, "Common sense common safety", published on 15 October 2010, that this time period be extended to seven days.
