Consultation on draft National Minimum Wage (Consolidation) Regulations
Close date: 15 September 2014
The Government consults on the National Minimum Wage (Consolidation) Regulations, which update and consolidate existing national minimum wage legislation into a single set of Regulations. The national minimum wage legislation has been amended many times since it was introduced in 1999. The draft Regulations contain a number of drafting changes intended to ensure that the rules are set out as clearly as possible. The consultation asks whether or not the draft Regulations work and are clear, and whether or not there are any other areas of the rules that should be reviewed. However, the Government has made it clear that it is not considering any policy changes. The Regulations are expected to come into force in 2015.
