Consultation on employee share ownership
Close date: 16 November 2012
The Government consults on proposals to simplify the process for buying back shares owned by employees who are leaving the company. It consults on deregulating the conditions under which companies can: authorise share buybacks; finance share buybacks; and hold shares once repurchased ready for redistribution. It seeks to understand the implications of any changes for companies, employees and other shareholders. The consultation follows the review undertaken by Graeme Nuttall on employee ownership, which recommended removing the barriers to it.
