Consultation on exclusivity clauses in zero hours contracts

The Government has published a consultation exploring how to prevent rogue employers evading the proposed ban on exclusivity clauses in zero hours contracts, for example through offering one-hour contracts. The Government seeks views on; the likelihood of employers evading the proposed ban and how that might be achieved; whether or not the Government should do more to deal with potential avoidance; and whether or not there should be penalties attached to circumventing the ban. The consultation follows the Government's announcement on 25 June 2014 that it would ban exclusivity clauses in zero hours contracts.
