Consultation on extending right to request flexible working and introducing right to time off work to train in Northern Ireland
Close date: 23 October 2009
The Government consults on proposals to extend the right to request flexible working, either by emulating the practice adopted in Great Britain of giving the right to parents of children under the age of 17, or to follow one of the other options suggested in the consultation. The right to request flexible working is presently available to those with parental responsibility for children aged under six (or under 18 for children with a disability) and to carers of adults. The consultation also seeks views on a new right to request time off work to undertake training, which the Government believes will help improve business performance and productivity.
