Consultation on the national minimum wage

Close date: 26 September 2014

The Low Pay Commission consults on the national minimum wage to assist it in compiling its report for the Government on the national minimum wage, which is due by the end of February 2015. It is considering: the different national minimum wage rates and making recommendations on what they should be from October 2015; making changes to the apprentice rate to simplify the structure and improve compliance, and whether or not it should continue to apply to all levels of apprenticeship; and the conditions that need to be in place to allow the value of the minimum wage to increase in real terms. In making its recommendations the commission will take into account the state of the economy; employment and unemployment levels; and relevant policy changes.
