The draft Bill is based on the UK Equality Act 2010 and includes the same protected characteristics: age; disability; sex; gender reassignment; race; religion or belief; pregnancy and maternity; marriage and civil partnership; and sexual orientation. There are some differences such as the definition of race will include caste and compensation for discrimination will be capped at £50,000.
