New system for controlling immigration

The Government consults on proposals to introduce a new points system for people applying to work in the UK, based on skills levels. The scheme will divide applicants into five tiers: investors and highly skilled; skilled workers with a job offer, or fitting a specific overseas requirement; specific low skill schemes; students; and visiting workers, people on selected development schemes and youth mobility or cultural exchange.
