Case report round-up: High Court takes wide view of whom unions are entitled to ballot in respect of industrial action

High Court takes wide view of whom unions are entitled to ballot in respect of industrial action In London Underground Ltd v Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) [2011] EWHC 3506 HC, the High Court, in denying an application by London Underground for an injunction to prevent a strike, took a wide view of the category of workers that unions are entitled to ballot in respect of industrial action. The Court reiterated that the relevant legal provisions are not designed to prevent unions from organising strikes, or even make it so difficult for them that it will be impracticable for them to do so. (Personnel Today)
