International manual country guide updates: December 2014
There are updates to various country guides in the International manual this month, including the Canada, Germany, Greece, Guernsey, Ireland, Jersey, South Africa and Venezuela employment law guides:
- Canada: Increase in minimum wage in Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador and Saskatchewan and additional information on training for workers in Ontario.
- Germany: Confirmation that disciplinary sanctions and procedures are not regulated by statute and minimum wage rates set for workers in industrial slaughterhouses.
- Greece: Collective bargaining rules changed to allow for unilateral referral to arbitration.
- Guernsey: Increase in minimum wage and maximum offset rates.
- Ireland: Details of proposed legislation to amend the rules on collective agreements and updated content on employment permits for employing foreign nationals.
- Jersey: Employees with up to 26 weeks' service required to give notice to terminate their contract, rules relating to temporary agency workers and family-friendly rights to come into force on 1 September 2015.
- South Africa: Extension of grounds on which discrimination is expressly prohibited.
- Venezuela: Increases in national minimum wage and daily value of cash or voucher for food benefit.
