International manual country guide updates: January 2015
There are updates to various country guides in the International manual this month, including the Belgium, Canada, Germany and Spain employment law guides, as follows:
- Belgium: New retirement provision.
- Canada: Substantial updates have been made to the Canada guide, including:
- increase in minimum wage in New Brunswick and Yukon;
- additional employers' health and safety obligations;
- new requirement in Manitoba for joint health and safety committees;
- changes under Saskatchewan law to discrimination grounds and the maximum compensation payable for discrimination;
- provision for target benefit pension plans in Alberta and New Brunswick; and
- 2015 changes to income tax bands, employment insurance contributions, sickness benefit, Canada pension plan contributions and Quebec parental insurance plan contributions.
- Germany: New retirement provision and introduction of statutory minimum wage.
- Spain: Increase in national minimum wage; changes to income tax rates; and social security contributions and new requirement from May 2015 for payslips.
