International manual country guide updates: September 2014
There are updates to various country guides in the International manual this month, including the Canada, France, Ireland, Nigeria and Venezuela employment law guides:
- Canada: New rights for employees in Ontario, Saskatchewan and Yukon, increase in fines for breaches of health and safety rules in Saskatchewan and increase in minimum wage in Prince Edward Island.
- France: Updated requirement to appoint a representative for posted workers, as well as equal treatment of students on work placements.
- Ireland: Updated information on potential penalties for employing a non-EEA foreign national without the relevant permit and automatic unfair dismissal for making a protected disclosure.
- Nigeria: Pension Reform Act 2014 in force.
- Venezuela: Updated information on new fine levels for health and safety breaches, new entitlement to paid leave for employees on military service and new obligations on employers arising from compulsory enrolment to national military service.
