Model adoption leave policy updated for 5 April changes
XpertHR's model policy on adoption leave has been updated to cover the 5 April 2015 changes, this includes alerting employees to their new rights to take time off to attend adoption appointments and to curtail adoption leave to take shared parental leave.
The adoption leave policy (adoption within the UK) now covers:
- the removal of the requirement to have 26 weeks' service to be eligible for adoption leave;
- the payment of statutory adoption pay at 90% of normal earnings for the first six weeks;
- the extension of adoption leave rights to surrogacy and "foster to adopt" arrangements;
- the new right to time off to attend adoption appointments; and
- the introduction of shared parental leave.
